RAF Visit June 2023

In November we wrote to RAF Leeming 90 Signals Unit (90SU) as part of our learning about Remembrance Day. Follow this link to look back:

90SU were so pleased to receive our letters, they asked Miss Franklin if they could come and visit us to say 'thank you' in person and Miss Franklin said "Absolutely, yes!" So, on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th June, 8 members of 90SU came to visit St Peter's.

On Wednesday they did a presentation to all the classes who have written to 90SU whilst in Red Class, since 2019. They brought giant construction kits for us to build with, which every class loved using to construct a variety of vehicles. We also got to try on some of the official RAF kit, including the helmet which was very very heavy. 

On the Thursday they came back to do some more building with the construction kits and then set to work on our school 'Outdoor Project'. Putting together all out planters for the front entrance way in a matter of minutes, they then set to work helping us dig over lots of the land at the end of the playground to turn into a 'Bee & Butterfly Garden'. They also helped us build a 'Bug Hotel', and made a fantastic job of it.

We had an AMAZING time with the RAF and were very upset that they could not stay longer!
