Home Learning- Monday 25th January 2021 – YELLOW CLASS

Good morning children smiley

Here is your home learning for today.

I just to start the week by saying a HUGE thank you to parents and carers for the lovely messages I have received about your child’s home learning. These have been a pleasure to read.

On a Monday we usually start our school day by looking at what is in the news. Please see the link above for today’s virtual assembly.

Read, Write Inc

If you haven’t already done so, register for free on oxford owl. Here your child can

continue to read books at the correct level. Follow the link below to register.

https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/home/reading-site/find-a-book/librarypage?view=image&series=Read+Write+Inc

Ask your child whose group they are in for Read, Write, Inc and then see below for

their Read, Write, Inc level. Some children have changed groups after the Christmas

holidays. The children were in their new groups yesterday, however, if your child

does not know, please email me to ask or contact school.

As you will see Set 2 children have completed all set 2 sounds now, so have gone back to the beginning.  This is to make sure the children are secure with those sounds and to ensure they can read words with those sounds in fluently before moving on.

Red words (also known as tricky words) need to be practised daily.

Click the link below for this week’s red words matching your child’s reading level

above. These are the same words all week as they need to know these fluently.

Art This half term in Art we have been looking at the artist Paul Smith who makes clay Sculptures. This week I would like you to complete 3 observational drawings. Look carefully at the pictures and the shapes they make then have a go at drawing them.

I have given you a choice between 2 sheets. But think carefully because you are going to choose your favourite to make with clay next week! laugh

  • Sheet 1 – Penguin, Polar bear and Seal
  • Sheet 2 - Elephant, Lion and tiger

Parents and carers I will give you more information on this next week, I will be preparing clay in bags for you to collect from school, please could you let me know if you would be happy to do this.
