Parliament Week
For Parliament week, we were finding out all about how our country is run and who is involved. Our capital city, London, is where our country is run from and parliament is made up of three parts: The House of Commons, The House of Lords and the Monarch. We found out about what these do and how they work. A member of parliament (MP) sits in the house of commons and take part in debates and vote on new laws. Lords sit in the House of Lords and discuss, debate and suggest additions to new laws. Finally, a law only takes effect when it has been signed by the Monarch, currently King Charles III.
We also thought about some issues that MPs discuss and some of our views on them such as: the environment, homelessness, crime, education and hospitals.
