Remembrance Day 2023
Writing Letters To The RAF
We have spent some time learning about Remembrance Day and why we observe the 2 minutes silence at 11am. We found out there are lots of types of Armed Forces, so chose to focus our learning on the Royal Air Force (RAF). Miss Franklin talked to us about her great-great-uncle who was in the RAF during WW2 and showed us a replica model of his plane, it looked very different to the RAF planes we have now! We learnt that sadly some of the Armed Forces personnel die while doing their job, like they did in the world wars, which is why we have Remembrance Day.
We were shocked to hear that some of the active personnel will be away from their families over Christmas, so decided we should try and make them smile and say 'thank you' for keeping us safe, so we wrote them some letters.
