Safer Internet Day 2023
The 'Safer Internet Day' theme this year is 'Want To Talk About It?'.
First we discussed what technology we use at home. We said we use:
- iPad/ Tablet
- XBox/ PS4/ PS5/ Switch
- Laptop
- Mobile Phones (belonging to parents/ carers/ family members)
We started by talking about what the internet is and what it is used for. We discussed what we like to do on the internet. We said we like to:
- Play games: Roblox, Minecraft, Peppa Pig
- Watch YouTube
- Watch Netflix
- Watch Disney+
- Watch BBC iPlayer (Cbeebies)
- Do our RWI homework
We then learnt that sometimes things don't always go right on the internet, and things may pop up that we don't want to see or hear. We read the story of 'Hanni and the Magic Window'.
After reading the story, we discussed who we could talk to if something on the internet made us feel sad, scared or 'a bit funny inside'. Those people would help us sort it out and make us feel better. We decided some sensible people to talk to would be:
Teacher
Teaching Assistants
Classroom Helpers
Mummy and/or Daddy
Family Members (Aunties/ Uncles etc.)
Friends Parents (if we were at their houses)
The Police
