Art Week 2023

The week beginning 22nd May 2023 was our school Art Week. This year the theme was 'The Great Outdoors'. As we had been learning about Butterflies this term anyway, and then showed an interest in Bees when it was World Bee Day we decided to complete our Art Week Project on these two insects. 

We know they are insects as they both have 6 legs, but we also found out that both of these insects are symmetrical, they look identical on each side. We decided to create symmetry printing pictures using poster paint.

We looked carefully at the features of different British Bees and Butterflies on an identification sheet, and using this painted one half of the details of the insects. We then folded the paper in half to print a symmetrical image on the other side of the paper. We loved the effect this gave.
