River Study
This half term, year 4 walked to Thompson park to take part in a river study. First we heard about how to stay safe near water and then we found out about some of the creatures that live in our local river - the River Brun. We looked closely at these creatures and were able to identify some of them. We then got into the river ourselves and had a go at finding some of our own river creatures. While doing this we found out what makes a healthy river, if there are lots of creatures living in it and a variety of them. We were pleased to find out that our river is a healthy river! In the afternoon, we walked along the river Brun into Heasandford and saw the different features of a river such as: a meander, tributary and confluence. We found out what these and other words meant and could see them for ourselves. We learnt lots that will help us in the rest of our rivers topic.
