SMJ Falconry Visit 08.10.24

We were visited by Katie from SMJ Falconry today. She brought in 4 owls for us to see and taught us lots of facts about Owls.

  • When owls fly you cannot hear them, they are silent, because they have very soft wings.
  • Owls can turn their heads almost the whole way round, because they cannot move their eyes.
  • Owls eyes show us when in the day they come out. If they have dark eyes they come out at night, orange eyes come out and dawn and dusk and if they have yellow eyes they come out during the day.
  • Owls have 4 toes called talons.
  • Owls have super duper hearing and an even hear the heart beat of a mouse!
  • Owls vomit out pellets that contain the bones and fur from animals they have eaten.

You can see the photos below of each of us holding one of the owls, we were so brave!

The 4 owls we met...

We all got to hold 'Bobby'!
