Curriculum Overview Summer One
Literacy – Our novel this half term is The Thousand-Year-Old Boy. We will be starting this after SATS, before then we will look at various narrative poetry and we will creating our own class poem of our journey through primary school.
Maths –This half term will be preparing for our SATS with a focus on problem solving skills across all areas of maths as well as individual targets in revision sessions. As a whole class we will continue to work on operations involving fractions, algebra and measurement.
RE – Our study this half term will continue to look at who Jesus was followed by our ideas about God.
Science – We will be working on electrical circuits. We will be learning common symbols used, understanding diagrams and looking at making our own electrical circuits for a class project.
PHSE – This half term, our focus is What affects mental health and ways to take care of it; we will be looking at managing change, loss and bereavement as well as managing our time online.
Geography – This half term we will be finishing off our study of South America then moving onto a class project where we will be surveying Burnley town centre and peoples use of the high street.
Computing – This half term following on from making our adventure games we will start a new unit on coding. As always, we will be looking at how to stay safe online.
Art – At the end of this half term we will be taking part in Art week, which involves developing the children’s art skills as part of a week-long whole school project.
PE – Our PE days this half term will be Monday and Tuesday. Please continue sending your child in their PE kits on these days.
