Ancient Greece Day
Ancient Greece Day - Experience Education
Orange Class had a great time on Wednesday when we welcomed our visitor Peter who was in fact an 'Ancient Greek' for the day. We learnt lots about life in Ancient Greece. We learnt about some of the jobs the people did, such as jewellers, and then made our own Ancient Greek jewellery. We learnt about the city of Athens - what was there and why it was built the way it was, before finding out abut Greek soldiers and how they fought. Orange class then got to put this into practice by staging their own 'battle'. In the afternoon, we found out more about Athenian democracy. They would hold debates in their assembly for free citizens and Greece and so we held our own assembly where we debated an issue that was actually discussed in the time of Ancient Greece. Finally, we also learnt about another important city - Sparta - and the similarities and differences in how they were governed compared to Athens.
