Lunar New Year: Stir Fry Cooking 25.01.23

We have been learning about Chinese New Year. This year is the ‘Year of the Rabbit’. We learnt all about the great race, where the Jade Emperor asked 13 animals to compete to have years named after them. Chinese people celebrate Lunar New Year by going to watch Dragon Dances, setting off fireworks, and giving gifts. Often these gifts are money enclosed in red envelopes. We learnt that to wish someone a Happy Chinese New Year in Chinese you say:

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

We made Chinese stir-fry to celebrate Chinese New Year. We used baby corn, mange tout, bean sprouts, peppers and noodles in our stir-fry. Most of us thought the stir-fry was really yummy, but some of us were a bit unsure about some of the vegetables we had not tasted before.
