Classroom Charters

Classroom charters, devised through discussion with the children, are displayed in each classroom in a way which can be understood by all children (photographs, diagrams, cartoons).

They focus on the basic fundamental rights we should all expect to enjoy at school: The right to respect and fair treatment; the right to learn without being distracted by others and the right to feel safe and be safe.

The charters are written using inclusive and positive language. All the children sign the charter. A copy is made and sent home to parents.

The emphasis of behaviour management focuses on the rights that are affected. Children are encouraged to think about how their behaviour affects others.
