Yellow Class - Spring Term 2
Read Write Inc: Children will be assessed upon returning to school and put into reading ability groups. Pupils will do a speed sound lesson each day and read a text three times on separate occasions. The more frequently your child reads at home, the quicker they will progress through the Read, Write, Inc levels and become a fluent reader. Pupils are assessed every six weeks or more frequently if we feel they need moving on to the next level.
English: This term we are focusing on creating an information booklet all about Debi Gliori. We will explore her books and gather information about the author before writing our very own information book about her. We will then move onto our classic narrative and poetry unit based on the story Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Please help your child at home by reminding them to use capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and also remind them to check that their sentences make sense by practicing them orally.
Maths: In Maths, we will be moving onto number and place value, mass and weight, 2D and 3D shapes, money and multiplication and division. We will then assess and review at the end of the term. Please continue to support your child at home with the termly homework tasks.
Science: In Science we will be continuing to learn about materials and their properties. We will identify and name a variety of everyday materials and describe the simple physical properties. We will also study the season of Spring.
History: In History we will be exploring homes then and now. We will look at different types of houses and features of houses. We will look at how houses have changed over time as well as make links between homes in Victorian times and homes today.
RE: In RE, we will learn about Easter. Yellow class will focus on celebrating new life and new beginnings.
DT: In DT we will explore structures. We will also explore structures and create our very own chair for Peter Rabbit using the skills we have built.
Music: In Music we will be continuing to use the Charanga Music Service. The song that we are learning this term is called Round and Round. We will also practise our song for the Easter Service 'Spring Chicken'.
PE: In PE we will be continuing our gymnastics we will also be using the Fundamental Movement Skills which will include bouncing and catching. We will also have a weekly dance lesson.
Computing: In computing we will be learning about internet safety and how to create animated story books. Please continue to explore Purple Mash at home using your child’s log in which is in their home reading record.
PSHE: This term our unit will continue to focus on ‘Relationships’.
