Summer 2

Summer term 2 curriculum

The children will continue to work on our poetry unit which focuses on The Jabberwocky. We will be writing our own versions of the poem, acting it out with actions and then creating our story based on the characters and setting from the poem.

Our learning this term has the following sequence:

Weeks 1 and 2 – Place Value

Week 3 – Measurement and Statistics

Week 4 – Geometry

Week 5 – Addition and Subtraction

Week 6 – Multiplication

Our history unit will focus on Anglo Saxons. The children will look at artefacts and historical sources to answer the question: Who was buried at Sutton Hoo?

The children will continue to learn about the life cycles of a mammal, an amphibian, an insect and a bird. They will also learn about the life process of reproductions in some plants and animals (including humans). Some of lesson will include dissecting the different parts of a flower, trying to frow new plants from taking cuttings and researching the gestation periods of different animals.

We will complete our unit on 3D modelling before moving onto more coding where the children will learn more about creating variables, debugging and using a range of inputs and outputs.

After completing our Pentecost unit we will be exploring Loss, Death and Christian Hope. Is death an ending or a beginning?

In DT, we will be learning about different frame structures before making a small bird hide for a wild life area.
